Our Mission

Hālau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leināʻala (HKLMOL) serves as an apotheosis of Hawaiian culture, dance, language and history. Haumāna (students) of HKLMOL become an extension of our ʻāina (ancestral land) and a voice for our kūpuna (predecessors). As part of hālau, haumāna connect with experts, resources, and service opportunities to enhance their personal knowledge, skills and overall well-being, thus positively impacting their communities. By dignifying cultural practice, inspiring restorative action, and perpetuating the Hawaiian culture, HKLMOL seeks to protect a foundation of aloha grounded in ʻike Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian knowledge) for generations to come.
